District cooling under the streets of central Sundsvall
Sundsvall Energi continues to build its district heating grid in Sundsvall. The project involves supplying large properties in Stenstan and the lower harbour area with green and intelligent cooling.
Using horizontal drilling techniques, a DN500 district cooling pipe has been laid along a 180-metre section under Storgatan, right in the centre of Sundsvall.
FVB was involved in the work in several ways, including designing the horizontal drilling process, conducting test drills before the real thing, preparing the project through communication with authorities and other stakeholders, and drafting the tender invitation.
